Do you see God in the world? An answer I heard recently was no, we see earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, tsunamis, volcanoes, carnivorous animals, humans that murder, war, anger, depression and selfishness – all destroy life. In the
Where we see God
We see God in the unseen, like an impression or an image. The sunrise, sunset, moon and stars, hugs and kisses, and unselfish acts of love.
“For His invisible attributes, that is, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen since the creation of the world, being understood through what He has made…”
These show that God exists, yet the sun will one day burn out and we can’t live forever – revealing that there is no real connection to life and God’s love. The imperfection then is a sign of sin, and that’s part of the truth. So, the wrong in this world is because of sin not because there is no God.
To go further, we need to make a decision about the truth. You understand the first part, that there is something wrong with this world. The Second part, is the Bible says that sin separates us from God. But God has not abandoned us to this sin world by providing salvation. In Jesus there is forgiveness of sins and through him is the reconnection to God and to the good we see in the world.
Do you understand that sin separates us from God? Have you believed and embraced the sacrifice Jesus made to remove your sin and restore you and the world to God?
What is the forgiveness of sins? continue to read and look at a short video.
Forgiveness of Sins
One of the last words of Jesus to his followers was to preach forgiveness of sins to all nations, Luke 24:47.
Sins simply are the things we say, think, or do that disobey God’s laws. Sin literally means missing the mark. God graciously gave us a conscious and everyone knows his basic laws – the Ten Commandments and we have not kept them.
Jesus summed up the laws:“The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” – Mark 12:29-31.
Jesus also shared with us that God is Holy and even our sinful thoughts are enough to send us out of his presence, Matthew 5. This is what death is, separation from God, from life.
With sin in mind, we are then in need of forgiveness. And that forgiveness is found in Jesus who lived a perfect life to offer his life as a sacrifice. He went in the path of sin – to death and separation from God to redeem us. Galatians 4:6, “but when the time had fully come, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the Law, that we might receive our adoption as sons.” Because of this, He is able to offer forgiveness to those that believe. Everyone at one point has tried to do this on our own by being good, but we cannot win this battle. Eternal life is a gift of God, Rom 6:23. Your sins are forgiven, those are the words everyone wants to hear.
If you want to take that step, ask yourself 4 important questions.
- Do I know that God loves me and has a plan for my life?
- Do I know that I have sinned and that my sin is a barrier to my relationship with God?
- Do I believe that Jesus Christ paid the penalty for my sin and is the only way to find forgiveness for my sins?
- Have I accepted Jesus as my Savior by believing in Him — by saying Yes to him?
A prayer could be,
“Heavenly Father, I confess that I am a sinner and I believe that Jesus died to pay for my sins and then rose from the dead for me. I accept you into my life. I turn from my way of doing things, to your way, and give you control of my life. I accept you and you alone as the only way to have my sins forgiven and the only way to have a right relationship with you. Thank you for saving me and giving me a new life. Amen”
